Arms Around Bainbridge began in 2007, with seven friends, a thirty mile swim around Bainbridge Island, and one vision: to provide financial and emotional support to Olivia Carey as she battled ovarian cancer.

It immediately became apparent that Olivia's challenges were not unique. Our community shares an ongoing problem of island residents in financial crisis due to life-threatening illness. Today, that initial fundraising swim by a few hearty souls has grown to include support from hundreds of individuals, local businesses, and the philanthropic community.

Because Arms is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3)organization with no physical location, our expenses are very low. Currently 90% of donations directly support beneficiaries.
